We will meet at 9:30 am near the Market Place on the Green at the Meridian Mall Parking Lot and depart at 9:45 am to first visit Yunyan Shen’s residence in Okemos. Yunyan’s garden features rose beds, low-maintenance flowers, vegetable beds, fruit trees (apple, cherry, date, peach, plum, etc.) and bamboo, creating a vibrant and tranquil space
The next garden will be Harriet Squire’s home in Haslett. In August her beds of dahlias will be in full bloom and will show the range of color and form that dahlias are famous for.
The final stop will be Brook Thompson’s 1.5 acre property in Haslett, which backs onto the Mud Lake watershed. Her wildlife friendly yard has a sunken rose garden, a berry patch a wooded back area, fenced raised-bed vegetable and flower garden, and a stone-built waterfall with a seating area. In August there will be lots of sage/mint type plants, zinnias, and cone flowers.
Lunch will be at Buddy’s Pizza, 2010 W. Grand River Avenue, Okemos at 1:15 pm. Please let JoAnn know if you will not be attending by August 15.
