Membership:
- Membership is open to all gardening enthusiasts who support our mission
- Guests can attend two meetings to experience our programs, meet members, and decide if they want to join
- Upon completion of a new member information form and payment of dues, new members receive a welcome packet which includes our yearbook.
- Each new member is assigned a mentor
- We are a 501(c)3 organization

Backdoor Gardens
Dedicated to horticultural education for all ages
- Raised beds were a recent project added to the picket fence garden
- School groups learn about gardening practices of early settlers of the region
- Hands on experience weeding and planting
- Girl Scouts weed and harvest the produce; also dress our scarecrow
- Produce harvested is donated to a local food bank
- Annual Heritage Festival provides tours for community members of the gardens
- Visitors learn about vegetable gardening
- Young visitors create garden crafts
Flower Shows and Arranging
- Seasonal Floral arrangements
- Create swags to decorate the doors of the Meridian Historical Buildings
- Flower Shows include divisions in:
- Horticulture, design, educational exhibits, youth exhibits, artistic drafts, botanical arts, photography and youth exhibits.


Community Outreach
- Sharing gardening knowledge
- Providing activities for Senior Citizens
- Supporting thirteen gardens in the community
- Our club members are from the Okemos, Haslett and
Lansing area
Community Beautification
Club members work in teams to maintain a variety of Meridian Township Gardens.
- The Okemos Post Office – planted with Michigan natives
- The Meridian Township Administration Garden
- The Eagle Garden celebrates American patriotism
- The Blue Star Garden honors veterans and their families
- The Twohy Memorial Garden features host plants for pollinators
- The Safety Gardens – Public Safety and Central Park Fire Station
- Plant-it-Pink Garden – honors breast victims and survivors
- The Backdoor Gardens – Learning for community


Plant Sale – Fundraiser
- Plants come from members’ gardens
- This is the club’s principal source of fundraising
- Proceeds go to the Meridian Garden Club Scholarship for MSU students in Horticulture
- Funds help to maintain local gardens
- Contributions go to several charitable organizations
- Friends of Historic Meridian
- Harris Nature Center
- Haslett Beautification Association
- Greater Lansing Food Bank
- MSU 4-H Children’s Garden
